Hit The player may request an additional card, called a hit. The dealer must hit until the hand total is greater than 16. Exceeding 21 loses immediately.
Stay The player may refuse additional cards at any time. The dealer must stay if the hand total is between 17 and 21.
Double The player may have a hand which would most likely beat the dealer with only one hit. Doubling refers to matching your current wager, and taking only one more card.
Split The player can separate 2 equal valued cards into distinct hands by ‘splitting’ the pair. The 2nd hand requires the same wager as the 1st. Ace pairs are the exception : they receive only 1 card each.
Insurance The player may wager the dealer has a Black Jack if the face up card is an Ace. Insurance wagers pay 2 : 1 if the dealer has a Black Jack.
